BACK WHERE IT BEGAN: STARSAILOR LIVE AT THE SOCIAL
If it wasn’t for The Social in Central London, who knows how our career would have gone.
It was following our show there in April 2000 that NME said: "One live encounter was enough to convince many sceptics that here was a band who were genuinely special, blessed with a singer whose voice thrummed like an emotional telegraph wire, that swerved the pitfalls of indie melancholia and were clearly in love with rock 'n' roll and all its possibilities." In that moment our entire career changed - 18 months later we’d released a critically-acclaimed debut album, enjoyed three top-40 singles, and were about to go on our first major UK headline tour.
Given 2025 marks our 25th Anniversary, we wanted to go back to where it all began. We’ll be playing two intimate gigs at The Social (5 Little Portland Street, W1W 7JD) on Saturday 14 June - a matinee (2pm - 5:45pm*) and evening (7pm - 10:45pm*) show, presented by Heavenly. Marsy will be supporting us at both shows.
James Walsh said: “We’re really excited to return to The Social, where we played our first ever London gig back in 2000 - this time with our drummer Ben Byrne, who doesn’t need the time off from Bargain Booze any more!”
Tickets go on general sale at 10am on Friday 9 May and are priced at £25 (+fees) each via See Tickets. Each attendee will receive a limited edition 25 Years of Starsailor fanzine.
Busy on Saturday 14 June? We’ll be back in London when we play the O2 Forum Kentish Town on Saturday 22 November. Click here for details and tickets.
